Amy Burek is a printmaker and book artist who self-publishes under the imprint Awkward Ladies Club. Her work explores how technology has shaped the way we interact with each other, express our emotions, and perceive ourselves. In addition to exhibiting at art book and zine fairs throughout North America, she previously served as Communications Chair and later as Managing Director of San Francisco Zine Fest. She recently co-founded the risograph studio Chute with fellow East Bay artist Zach Clark. She lives in Alameda, CA.
With book fairs canceled and preschool closed, most of my creative energies have been redirected towards entertaining and teaching my son while we shelter-in-place. In this video, I make an 8-page zine about two of his favorite things: flowers and cats. This zine requires only a single sheet of paper and scissors and can be completed in an hour or less (approximately the length of a 3 year old's nap). If you make a zine and want to trade with me for a copy of BULBS or CATS, send me a message.
